Manchester United (4) v Brighton (2)

Manchester United made it three wins on the bounce as Matheus Cunha scored his first goal in United colours against Brighton.

Goals throughout the game from Matheus Cunha, Casemiro and a Bryan Mbeumo brace propelled the Red Devils into the top four. Although, late goals from Brighton's Danny Welbeck and Charalampos Kostoulas put three points in doubt for the hosts.

Brighton remained a boogey-team for United going into the game, losing six of their last seven matches against Hurzler's men.

Two Brazilians combined for the opener as Casemiro poked the ball into Cunha's path, who set himself up and curled it into the bottom corner. Casemiro continued the Brazilian theme when his effort on goal took a heavy deflection off Ayari, sending Verbruggen the wrong way.

Mbeumo opened his account after Benjamin Sesko placed the Cameroonian in front of goal. The forward switched the ball onto his favoured left and slotted the ball between Lewis Dunk's legs into Verbruggen's near corner.

Brighton came out from the break firing, and pulled one back when a superb free-kick from former Manchester United player, Danny Welbeck carved over the wall and beat Senne Lammens, giving the Seagulls a lifeline. Brighton continued to grow into the game, and Old Trafford faithful watched in horror as Kostoulas's headed home a near-post corner from James Milner.

Mbuemo settled the contest late when his shot rifled into the roof of the net after Fernandes cleverly dummied a through-ball from Ayden Heaven.

The victory put United into the top four, just three points away from first place Arsenal. Brighton's defeat placed the visitors in 12th place after coming off a five game unbeaten streak.
