Levante face new LaLiga season with only 10 registered players

Levante begin their week leading up to the Spanish LaLiga 2025/26 season with only ten players officially registered on the La Liga website on Thursday.
Defenders Adrián De la Fuente “Dela”, Jorge Cabell, Unai Elzegabal, Manu Sanchez, midfielders Sergio Lozano, Pablo Martinez, Oriol Rey, Carlos Alvarez, and forwards Ignacio Romero, and Roger Brugue are the players eligible to play this Saturday away to Alavés, hoping to resolve registration issues in time to field a competitive squad.
Summer Signings Yet to Be Registered
The club has made eight signings this summer—Víctor García and Koljna on free transfers; defenders Matturro, Matías Moreno, and Manu Sánchez, plus forward Koyalipou, on loan deals; and Arriaga and Olasagasti through permanent transfers.
Despite these reinforcements, none have been added to the official roster, nor have most of the holdover players from last season.
La Liga’s Strict Salary Cap Rules at Play
Levante’s registration woes are partly linked to La Liga’s rigorous financial control system. Under the league’s salary cap regulations, clubs must operate within a set spending limit based on revenue, debts, and other financial factors. These rules, designed to ensure economic sustainability, can prevent teams from registering players until they reduce wage bills or generate additional income.
A Problem Not New to Levante
Last season, Levante faced similar difficulties, forcing head coach Julián Calero, who is already listed on La Liga’s site for this season, to start the campaign without several key players due to registration delays.
